Emma Lynn Bronson was born Wednesday October 14, 2009 at 12:25 A.M. She weighed 8lbs 3oz and was 22 inches long. She is perfect in every way and we could not be any happier to have another little girl.
Labor and delivery went very quickly this time around. This was the total opposite of Elia's delivery. I started having contractions during the night on Monday/Tuesday but when I got up they went away. So I thought not much was going to happen anytime soon. Well then the contractions started again Tuesday night soon after dinner. They were there but nothing too consistent and not too intense. Around 9 P.M. they started to get more intense and started coming closer together. I tried to relax and time the contractions as they came. I did this for about an hour and realized they were ranging about 6-10 minutes apart and lasting 30-45 sec. I was really starting to feel the "pain" so I called the triage at the hospital. I talked to a midwife and explained what was going on at the time. She was going to have me wait an hour but then she heard me through a contraction and told me to come in and we would check. So we called up Mandy and she came over to watch Elia. We got to the hospital around midnight and they took me back into a room. They put me on a bed, hooked up the monitors and she checked to see where I was at dilation wise. Well to every ones surprise I was complete and Emma was coming right then. They called in the doctors and nurses and I pushed about 3-4 times and Emma was here. Everything went so quickly that I really did not have much time to think about anything once they told me I was having her right then and there. Every thing turned out great and Emma and I are both doing great.
Elia was so excited to hear she had a new baby sister. She came in the morning and had the biggest grin on her face when she met Emma. She is such a great big sister and loves to give Emma hugs, kisses and to hold her. She has really adjusted well so far and hopefully that continues. Emma is doing well. The first couple of nights were an adjustment but she hasn't been doing too bad. She sleeps for about 3 hours and then needs to be fed each night. She also is not a fan of her bed yet. The first few nights I had to sleep on our recliner holding her in order for either of us to get any sleep. She has moved into her car seat now so we are improving. Elia was the same way when she was first born. Emma has a doctors appointment on Thursday just to make sure she is gaining weight. She also is going to be having an ultrasound on her hips in November. The doctor does not feel anything but because Elia had hip dysplasia she wants to make sure that Emma's hips are fine.
